AI will unlock massive creativity in humans
Optimistic take for no AI anxiety
People are worried that humans will become obsolete in the age of AI. That we’ll lose our jobs and sense of purpose.
I think AI is about to unlock massive amounts of creativity in humans. That creativity, in turn, will create new jobs and activities we can’t even imagine right now.
Humans are inherently creative. Our ability to express this creativity often depends on how much freedom, energy, and time we have.
If we’re constantly struggling to make ends meet, or doing activities that don’t excite us, our creativity naturally dwindles. If AI takes over mundane, unenjoyable tasks, it won’t just free up time, but will also give us back energy. The more pernicious effect of doing unenjoyable work is not the lost time. It’s the depletion of energy which keeps us from tapping into creativity, even for things we love.
Just like the dishwasher saved us hours of cleaning dishes by hand, AI will save us hours of chores no one likes. This can lead to an outburst of creativity.
